Here are some resources that might assist with your decision to become a host family, what’s required, and what to do when your exchange student first arrives!
- Host Family Expression of Interest Form: if you are interested in finding out more about becoming a Rotary Youth Exchange host family in District 9640, but have not yet been vetted by a local Rotary Club, please complete our Expression of Interest form.
- Host Family Application Form: if you have already been vetted by your local Rotary Club as a host family for an inbound student, you will need to complete this application form as a family.
- Host Family Handbook for District 9640 Host Families: this handbook contains (hopefully!) all of the information you need about hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange student in D9640. This is the key resource and reference guide that you need.
- While they are staying with you, your exchange student will be required to abide by our district travel policy. Please familarise yourself with this policy and the associated travel approval form however note that it is the student’s ultimate responsibility to abide by these rules and submit their travel approval forms. You can find these forms and other Inbound Student Resources here.
- First Night Questions: on their first night your hosted student should initiate the first night questions with you. They will likely have their own questions from home but if they don’t, here are some questions you can use if needed.
- Second Day questions: the student should run through these questions with their YEO/Counsellor shortly after they first arrive.
- Calendar of events: Make sure you are familiar with all of the upcoming events in our district that your student will need to attend.
